NORTHWAVE’S HAPPY SATURDAY BRINGS A BLAST OF WINS

ristoff broke the ice at Tour of Oman, Luis Leon Sanchez took stage and overall win at Vuelta a Murcia. Lopez stepped to the Tour Colombia podium, Izagirre retained Tour de la Provence’s leader jersey

A blast of wins emphasized Northwave’s happy Saturday, February 16th worldwide. Just like last year, Tour of Oman (2.HC) became Alexander Kristoff’s elected land to grab the first seasonal success. In the opening stage (Al Sawadi Beach - Suhar Corniche, 138,5 Km), Northwave and UAE Team Emirates’ athlete outsprinted France’s Bryan Coquard and Nacer Bouhanni. Kristoff now leads the overall standings, with 4 seconds over Coquard and 6 over Swiss Michael Schar, and the Points Classification.

Northwave leads the Youth Classification with Astana Pro Team’s Davide Ballerini and the Teams Classification with the Kazakh squad, entirely equipped with Northwave Extreme Pro shoes.

Northwave achieved another joy in Vuelta a Murcia’s final stage (Beniel - Murcia, 180,3 Km). Astana’s Luis Leon Sanchez with his Extreme Pro dominated the home race topping the stage (ahead of World Champion Alejandro Valverde and European Champion Matteo Trentin), and the overall GC preceding Valverde and Astana’s teammate Pello Bilbao.

Further good news from Colombia and France as Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) clinched second in the Tour Colombia 2.1 stage 5 (La Union - La Union, 176,8 Km) behind Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe, while Gorka Izagirre retained Tour de la Provence’s overall leadership after the stage 3 (Aubagne - Le Castellet Circuit Paul Ricard, 181,1 Km) won by Belgian Philippe Gilbert.
